Disable Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) on your device

Norton Secure VPN currently does not support Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6). If your device has an IPv6 address, then you are no longer protected by Norton Secure VPN. Also, the Internet traffic to and from a device or a website that uses an IPv6 address is not protected by Norton Secure VPN.

While we are working on adding support for IPv6, to protect your privacy and the data, we recommend that you disable IPv6 on your device.

To disable IPv6 on your device, select your operating system:

iOS devices do not provide an option to disable or change the IPv6 settings.

I have Windows

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

  2. Type in the following text, and then press Enter.

    ncpa.cpl
  3. Right-click the network adapter that is currently active, and then click Properties.

If the User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes or Continue.

  4. On the General tab, uncheck Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).

  5. Click OK to apply the changes.

  6. If you use any other network connections, repeat steps 3 to 5 to disable IPv6 for it.

  7. After you finish updating the settings, exit all the programs and restart your computer.

I have Mac

  1. From the Apple menu, click System Preferences, then click Network.

  2. In the bottom-left corner of the Network settings window, if you see the locked icon status, click it to unlock.

  3. Type your administrator password and press return.

  4. From the list of network interfaces, select the active network connection, and then click Advanced.

  5. On the TCP/IP tab, next to Configure IPv6, select Link-local only from the drop-down menu.

  6. Click OK to apply the changes.

  7. If you use any other network connections, repeat steps 4 to 6 to disable IPv6 for it.

  8. After you finish updating the settings, exit all the programs and restart your computer.

I have Android

On Android devices, you can disable IPv6 only for a mobile data connection. You cannot disable IPv6 for Wi-Fi networks.

The following steps may vary depending on your device manufacturer and the version of Android on your device.

  1. From the Home screen, launch Settings.

  2. Tap Network & internet.

  3. Tap Mobile network.

  4. Tap Advanced, and then tap Access Point Names.

  5. From the list of APNs, tap the APN that you currently use.

  6. In the Edit access point screen, scroll down and tap APN protocol.

  7. Tap IPv4.

  8. Exit the settings.
