Fix problems opening Norton device security for Mac
If you cannot open Norton Secure VPN on Mac, read: Fix problem with Secure VPN option missing or does not turn on from My Norton dashboard on Mac.
To fix this problem, restart your Mac. If the problem persists, remove and reinstall Norton for Mac.
Restart your computer

Exit all the open applications.

Restart your Mac.
After you restart your Mac, if the problem persists, go to Step 2 to uninstall Norton using RemoveNortonMacFiles tool and reinstall it.
Download and run RemoveNortonMacFiles as an administrator

Download the RemoveNortonMacFiles.zip file.

Click the
iconin the Dock.

In the Finder window, click in the left pane under Favorites.

Do one of the following:

If you downloaded the file using Safari browser, open the
folder. -
If you downloaded the file using the Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers, double-click the
file to expand it, and then open the folder.

In the RemoveNortonMacFiles folder, control-click the file, and then click > .
To run this tool, you must be logged on with an Administrator account and a non-blank password.

In the Terminal window, type your administrator password, and then press .
When you type your password, no characters appear.

To remove all Norton files and folders, type
.If you want to quit RemoveNortonMacFiles without removing any files, type
. -
Press
.RemoveNortonMacFiles tool removes all of the Norton files.

When the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool finishes removing the Norton files, in the Terminal window, type , and press to restart your Mac.
Before you press return, make sure that you save your work in other open applications.
RemoveNortonMacFiles removes all the folders that Norton installers created, and all the files within those folders including any that you have created.
Download Norton device security

Sign in to your account.

Type in your email address and password for Norton, and click
.If you do not remember your Norton account password, then click
and follow the on-screen instructions to recover your lost password. -
In the My Norton portal, click

In the Get Started page, click .

To install Norton for Mac 8.x or later, you need to have Mac OS X 10.10.x or later.
