Transfer your Norton protection from one device to another device

Your Norton membership comes with a limited number of licenses to protect your various devices. If you have used up your licenses, you can transfer a license from an unused device to allow installation on another device. To check if you have any licenses left with your subscription, read Find the licenses left with your subscription.

Transfer Norton to a Windows 10 or 8.1 device

  1. Sign in to Norton.

  2. On the My Norton page, under Device Security, click View Devices/Review Devices.

  3. On the Device Security page, identify the device that you no longer want to protect.

    If the device that you no longer use appears with a red or gray (inactive) status, you cannot remove the license associated with that device. You must fix the issues in that device before you remove the license associated with it. If you cannot fix the issues, you can remove the device from your Norton account.

  4. If you do not see the device, click History link at the bottom of the device list to see your older inactive devices. If you still do not see the device, the device may be associated with a different product key or subscription.

  5. Click the ellipse icon available below the device and in the menu that appears, click Manage License.

  6. In the Manage Licenses page, select Remove License and then click Next.

  7. In the Remove License page that appears, click Yes to confirm.

    Once you remove a license from a device, the device is no longer protected and is removed from the Device Security page.

  8. To install Norton on a new device, click Install Now and select one of the following:

    • To install Norton device security on the current device, click Install Now.

    • To install Norton device security on a different device, click Send Link.

  9. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the installation. For detailed instructions, see Download Norton on your device.
