Important: This announcement impacts you if your household has a Windows device that has Norton Security On-the-Go or Norton Security Protection installed on it.
The Norton Security Protection and Norton Security On-the-Go app will be retired for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) and will no longer be available for download after February 28, 2026.
As part of this upcoming change, you will no longer be able to purchase monthly or annual subscriptions of Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go through the Microsoft Store after February 28, 2026. You can continue to renew your existing subscriptions as scheduled.

As the Windows app SDK offers an opportunity to enhance the app with new platform features, Microsoft recommends migrating to the Windows App SDK from the Universal Windows Platform. Going forward, Microsoft will no longer support Universal Windows Platform.
As part of this change, we have decided to retire both Norton Security Protection and Norton Security On-the-Go app for the Universal Windows Platform (UWP).
We will not support or provide any product updates for Norton Security Protection and Norton Security On-the-Go apps starting from February 28, 2026. Also, some of the features may not work if you continue using the app after February 28, 2026. If you uninstall your Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go app from your device after this date, you won't be able to reinstall it.
Yes, you can download and install the new Norton 360 app from the Norton account portal.
Before installing the new Norton 360 app, you must sign out and uninstall the existing Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go from your computer.
If you have installed Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go on Windows 11/10 or on ARM-based devices, then install the latest Norton 360 app from the Norton account portal. If you have installed Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go on Windows 11/10 in S Mode, you can switch out of S Mode, then install the latest Norton 360 app from the Norton account portal.
Important points to remember:
Devices that ship with Windows 11/10 in S Mode allow a one-time switch to Windows 11/10 Home or Windows 10 Professional.
Once you've taken your device out of S Mode, you can never put it back into S Mode.
S mode is only supported on the Home edition of Windows 11.

As the new Norton 360 app for Windows supports ARM devices, we will continue to provide subscriptions for users on these devices with our existing Norton 360 plans. If you are using Norton Security Protection or Norton Security On-the-Go app on their ARM devices will be transitioned to our Norton 360 app, either automatically or with manual intervention, depending on their environment. Important: If you have both Norton Security Protection and the new Norton 360 app installed on your computer, we recommend that you sign out from your Norton Security Protection app and uninstall it.
